Lady Ga Ga is on a Dive Bar Tour and made a stop at the 5 Spot in Nashville. It’s all in support of her new album “Joanne” that has three songs written with Nashville songwriter Hillary Lindsay.
You know Hillary Lindsay from hundreds of your favorite country songs. She’s one of Carrie Underwood’s go to songwriters. She wrote “Jesus Take the Wheel” and “Church Bells”. Lindsey has also written songs for Sara Evans “A Little Bit Stronger” and Dierks Bentley. Most recently, she won both a Grammy and a CMA for Little Big Town‘s “Girl Crush,” which she co-wrote with Liz Rose and Lori McKenna.
Go to the 37:30 mark to watch Lady Ga Ga bring Hillary up on stage with this introduction:
“I wrote this song with a Nashville native, Hillary Lindsey,” Gaga told the crowd before performing “Million Reasons.” “We sat on a couch together, and we were going back and forth, guitar and piano, and we were going, ‘Why these men, you know?’ All these men — my dad, my boyfriend, all the men in my life — they gave me a million reasons [to leave], but I just need one good one to stick around … Ladies and gentlemen, Hillary Lindsey.”
Lindsey is also a co-writer on two more tracks on Lady Gaga’s Joanne, “A-Yo” (which readers can hear around the 32:30 mark in the video above) and “Grigio Girls.” A fan invited to a listening party for the project tells PopCrush that the disc has a tinge of country to it — “sorta [like] if you took Dolly Parton, Lily Allen, Beck and Bruno Mars and threw them into a blender.”
