Louisiana native Trace Adkins has announced that he will be donating his fee from his Saturday night performance in Vinton, Louisiana to the American Red Cross.
Adkins’ donation will specifically fund relief efforts in his home state of Louisiana after catastrophic flooding killed 13 people and resulted in at least $8.7 billion in damages, according to Taste Of Country.
Adkins, a longtime supporter of the American Red Cross, will also be presented with the United States Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Award today, Sept., 15.
The award is the third-highest public service honor the Army can bestow upon a civilian.
“We are so grateful to Trace Adkins for his long-standing support of the Red Cross and for stepping up again now when his home state of Louisiana is in need,” Don Herring, chief development officer for the American Red Cross, said in a release.
“Funds generously donated by our partners like Mr. Adkins and the general public are essential to our ability to immediately fulfill the mission of the Red Cross when disaster strikes.”
