It is with heavy hearts that we report search crews have recovered the body of 19-year-old Jerry Greer, the son of country singer Craig Morgan.
“It is with deep sadness that I am confirming the passing of Jerry Greer, son of country music entertainer Craig Morgan and wife Karen Greer,” Morgan’s rep said in a statement to PEOPLE.
Greer went missing on Sunday (July 10) after a tubing accident on Kentucky Lake in northern Tennessee.
According to the Humphreys County Sheriff, two teenagers were tubing when the tube hit a wave and Greer didn’t surface. Both were wearing life jackets.
The Sheriff didn’t speculate as to why the life preserver didn’t cause him to float to the surface.
About 20-30 boats joined the search and crews were using an underwater vehicle to scan a search on the river where the water is up to 15 feet deep at points according to WSMV News.
After news broke that the missing man was indeed Morgan’s son, the singer’s publicist sent a statement from the family thanking fans for their support while asking for privacy during a difficult time.
