Kenny Chesney gave a shout-out to a police officer who couldn’t be at his Philadelphia show on Saturday, because he was shot seven times.
25-year-old police officer Christopher Dorman was planning to attend the Chesney concert later that night in South Philadelphia, but instead spent it continuing to recover from his injuries sustained in Friday morning’s shooting.
It turned out, however, Chesney heard about Dorman and made a point to acknowledge him during his performance.
The good news is Dorman survived, but the bad news is that Kenny mistakenly told the crowd he died.
A day later, Dorman was doing so well that he posted a video from his hospital bed. He thanked the police, paramedics, and doctors, and he added, “Hey Kenny, don’t forget me.”
Kenny released a statement, saying “I was so caught up in the moment. I think the emotions got the best of me, and I wasn’t as clear as I could’ve been.”
Kenny also called Officer Dorman to apologize, and he confirmed it on social media.
