Keith Urban‘s Ripcord World Tour stopped in Tampa this weekend, but the country superstar’s thoughts were focused on a town almost 95 miles away.
Near the end of his almost 2 hour long concert, Urban wanted to make note of the fans that had traveled from Orlando to attend his show after last weekend’s mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub, which left 49 people dead and more than 50 injured.
The country star told the crowd, “Before we go I want to say one thing that’s really been on my heart for the last week. I know we’ve got a lot of folks here tonight from Orlando, and although I didn’t know anybody in that horrific incident, I did, because they’re just guys and girls, brothers and sisters. They had dreams, and hopes, plans, just like every one of us.”
In a touching tribute to the victims and their families, Urban performed a moving version of U2’s 1992 classic, “One.”
The performance is still being shared across the internet, and it’s the latest in an outpouring of support from the country-music community. On June 21st, a benefit concert featuring Tyler Farr, Maddie and Tae and Billy Currington, among others, will be held in Orlando according to Rolling Stone.
