3 super-spellers from Washington will be competing in the preliminary rounds of the National Spelling Bee competition today. 12 year old Charity-Dakota A. Jordan from La Conner Middle School, 13 year old Ayush Noori from Open Window School in Bellevue, and 11 year old Leonardo X. Chen from Oroville Elementary School, Oroville will take part in the preliminaries that start today. After 3 rounds, the final spellers will go head-to-head on Thursday in the finals which will be broadcast on ESPN.
Schools are cautious today after a string of bomb threats forced lock-downs and evacuations across nearly 20 states. The threats yesterday were part of a string of automated “swatting” calls. Squim’s Greywolf Elementary School, Pasco’s Ochoa Middle School, Long Beach’s Long Beach Elementary and Longview’s Kessler Elementary were among the schools that reported evacuations.

Taylor Swift and some of her friends like Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne have all become targets of an internet troll who is really out to get them, and has gone so far as to harass them on twitter and send them death threats. Even people outside of Taylor’s squad have been getting threats. Chrissy Teigen also received a message that stated, “gonna give it one shot, but I probably gonna end up murdering your friends.” Law enforcement are now on the hunt for the culprit and have obtained a warrant to search through Twitter’s records in the hopes of discovering his identity.

Angelina Jolie is added a new title to her resume: professor. Jolie will teach a new masters course on women, peace and security during the 2016-2017 school year at the London School of Economics. The actress will serve as a visiting professor and deliver guest lectures, contribute to research and participate in workshop and public events. “It is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women’s rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict,” Jolie said in a statement.

Jolie’s hubby Brad Pitt came to the rescue of a little girl in the Canary Islands on Monday when she was nearly crushed against a fence by an over-excited crowd. Entertainment Tonight reports that Pitt was in the middle of shooting a scene for his upcoming World War II drama Allied when he noticed the young fan being pushed against the barricade. In a video shared on YouTube, the actor can be seen pulling the girl above the fence line before two bodyguards help lift her up and away from the throng. Allied is set to hit theaters on November 23, 2016.
