Fans of Nashville have responded to the show’s recent cancellation by launching a Change.org petition to bring it back.
The petition has already garnered nearly 34,000 signatures from fans hoping the show gets picked up by a new network for a fifth season.
According to Taste Of Country, the petition will also be sent to different networks that seem like possible contenders to pick up the show, including CMT, Hulu, Netflix, TNT, AMC, Amazon, NBC, and CBS.
The decision to cancel the show came so suddenly that even the actors didn’t know about it until right around the same time the news broke online.
ABC President Channing Dungey explained the network’s decision saying, “Internally on the network side, it was kind of the best fit for things on the schedule — obviously looking at ratings, looking at our own finances and looking at some of the new development,” according to Us Weekly.
Meanwhile, Nashville’s producers have been actively trying to save the show by shopping it to different networks.
Hulu and Netflix have both been prominent in industry rumors about possible talks; both streaming services have breathed new life into other canceled shows in the past.
Producers, stars from the show, and fans have also taken to Twitter to spread their message, using the hashtag #BringNashvilleBack.
