While most of his peers prepared for the NFL draft by lifting weights and running, new Seattle Seahawks draftee Alex Collins just danced.
Collins, who starred as a running back at the University of Arkansas before his selection in the fifth round on Saturday, is an avid Irish step dancer who even has an alias–Mitchell Findley–that’s inspired by Lord of the Dance star Michael Flatley according to the Associated Press.
“I’m always on my toes, so it builds the lower body, the calf muscles and what not,” says Collins of his unusual training regimen, which was inspired by his high school coach’s daughter.
“And it’s a lot of fun working with [other dancers] and learning something new, especially being that I didn’t think I could do it.”
