The Band Perry is gearing up for the Summer Olympics because their song “Live Forever” has been picked as the official song for Team USA.
The trio made the news official with a stop in New York City at NBC’s Today Show to talk about the song and their upcoming trip to the games.
“‘Live Forever’ is really about those moments that make you feel like you’re going to live forever and that really is the spirit of the Olympics,” Kimberly Perry told hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. “We’re just really honored to bring that song to these guys.”
The anthem is one that fits perfectly for the upcoming summer games.
“Every time I hear the chorus of ‘Live Forever,’ I can’t help but put my hands up in the air,” Reid Perry said when the song was announced. “It’s one of those songs that, after listening to it, makes you feel like you can conquer the world.”
“Live Forever” was the lead single from the band’s album Heart + Beat, which was pushed back into late 2016. The song garnered attention from major music stars, including Lady Gaga, and hit Top 30 at country radio.
The games will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and officially kick off August 5.
