A cancer survivor from Winthrop is set to travel more than 2,000 miles by horseback in order to attend his 50th high school reunion. Vern Herrst plans to raise $1 per mile for the Washington/Alaska chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as he and his horse Nikki travel through Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Herrst plans to ride 20-25 miles a day in order to reach Howell, Michigan by August for the reunion. He’s dubbed it the “2016 Great Northern Horse Adventure” and it was a way to both challenge himself and raise money for cancer research.

Michael Strahan is leaving Live With Kelly & Michael months earlier than planned. The news came just hours after Kelly Ripa returned to the show following behind-the-scenes drama. A source revealed to Us Weekly that Kelly Ripa “is talking about leaving” the show unless her friends Anderson Cooper or Andy Cohen get the co-hosting job.
A guy in New York randomly punched a stranger on Saturday, only because he looked like Shia LaBeouf. Mario Licato was getting off the subway in Manhattan when a guy ran up to him, punched him in the left eye, then yelled, quote, “This is because you look exactly like Shia LaBeouf!” And it’s true: Mario DOES look like Shia LaBeouf. He says people have pointed out the resemblance many times. Quote, “I’ve been stopped on the street at least 10 times in my life.” The cops are still trying to track down the man who punched him.

A 12-year-old girl in New York accidentally ran a half-marathon after she confused the start of the race with a course she was supposed to be running. She had registered for the 5km race and thought she was late when she got to the starting so she began running the 13.1 mile course . She realized about halfway through that she was in the wrong race, but decided to finish anyway.
