Vince Gill Writes “A World Without Merle Haggard”

Get your tissue Merle Haggard fans. This one will jerk the tears.

Vince Gill wrote this song while on the road after hearing the news of Merle Haggard’s passing.  He’s backed by Paul Franklin on steel guitar, and it’s a beautiful sound that evokes country songs from long ago.  To me it’s just lovely.  It drips with sorrow and longing for a music man that we will always miss.

Vince Gill performed “A World Without Haggard” on the Grans Ole’ Opry.
