WATCH: Ken Griffey Jr. Throws First Pitch At Mariners Home Opener

The sun is shining, the temperature is rising, which means Spring is here and the return of Seattle Mariners baseball! The Mariners celebrated their home opener Friday night, and honored Ken Griffey Jr. who will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this year. Watch as he throws out the ceremonial first pitch to King Felix Hernandez below.

If you noticed that he didn’t throw from the mound, Jr. see’s it as a sign of respect for the starting pitchers.

“I wouldn’t want a pitcher coming in there and tearing up my batter’s box, so I feel a starting pitcher should have the first toe on the rubber to start the year.” – Ken Griffey Jr.

It’s going to be an exciting year of baseball! Go Mariners!
