If you want to study the art of ‘twerking’, then you might want to enroll in a new class dedicated to learning all about Miley Cyrus.
New York’s Skidmore University will be offering a summer class called “The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender, and Media” that will dig into the ever-so-important topic such as “what happens to Disney stars as they age,” and “gender stratification and the hyper commodification of childhood” according to Radio.com.
Skidmore students seem to be embracing the idea. Junior Layla Lakos, who’s majoring in sociology/philosophy said, “She (Miley Cyrys) represents how transient wealth and fame can be, and shows how possible it is to change your image.”
This isn’t the first time a college has created a unique college course. The University of California, Irvine offered a course titled Society, Science, Survival: Lessons from AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead.’
