KMPS Thanks Community For Help With McKenzie’s Cause
During the cookie drive this past Saturday at the Walmart Supercenter in Spanaway, over 2,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies were sold! 100% of the proceeds are being donated McKenzie Harris, one of the troop members that was seriously injured in a car accident on New Years Day.
Members of the community also turned out to make generous donations to McKenzie and her family in order to help them bring her home from the hospital at the end of April or early May. The money will help the family build a customized wheel-chair accessible addition to their home, purchase a vehicle with a wheel-chair lift, and provide assistance to pay for medical bills.
You can still make a donation at a YouCaring Page.
To all those who came out to support such a great cause, we humbly say THANK YOU!
To the amazing Girl Scouts in troop #43886 who decided to dedicate all of their cookie sales to their friend, WE SALUTE YOU!
WE LOVE YOU MCKENZIE!
*UPDATE 3/24* Work has now begun on the Harris family’s home renovation in order to bring McKenzie home following the accident that left her quadriplegic.
Many volunteers turned out to help make the home more accessible for McKenzie including a number of Pierce County Firefighters. Many items for the renovation have been donated including an elevator, a walk-in shower, a contractor and architectural services.
