As we all plan our Christmas celebrations with family and friends, one girl’s family was planning her last wishes as leukemia took over her fragile body. Taylor Swift and over 10,000 carolers helped grant 8-year-old Laney Brown’s final Christmas wish.
Laney was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia seven months ago according to CNN. Last week, her family learned that she has 70% cancer cells in her blood, and doctors have said this may be Laney’s last Christmas in West Reading, Pa.
Little Laney loves music, Taylor Swift and Christmas carols, and on Friday — her birthday — Laney and Swift were able to video chat through FaceTime so that they could see one another. Swift was born in Reading, Pa., so the young girl’s battle hit the singer close to home.
On Saturday, people from all over showed up at the little girl’s home to sing Christmas carols at her window. At first it was hundreds of people, then thousands. Then it was 10,000. Even Santa showed up.
Laney was so weak that she couldn’t go to the window to see everyone, but she could hear them perfectly. “I can hear you now!!! Love you!” she said through a photo her family posted to a Team Laney Facebook page.
