We love our pets, and they are considered part of the family. Which is why we can’t imagine leaving and having the person taking care of our pets sell or give them away. That’s exactly what happened to a soldier from Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Brandon Harker returned home from an eight month deployment in Afghanistan to find his dog Oakley was missing, and possibly sold on Craigslist. The soldier had asked a friend to take care of his 2-year-old purebred yellow Labrador retriever while he was deployed. When he contacted the friend to pick him up, he was told the dog had been given away.

After reaching out to friends, local veterinarians, and shelters he discovered Oakley has been listed for sale in February on Craigslist. Now he is turning to the website and the community to help bring his dog back home to him.
